Mother Mary Anne Clinic A dedication and blessing of the Mother Mary Anne Clinic was held June 6, followed by an open house and tours. The clinic offers uninsured or underinsured people an affordable alternative to using hospital emergency departments for routine care. The clinic’s mission is to provide healthcare to those who have relied on the emergency room to meet their routine healthcare needs. The clinic began serving patients on a first-come, first-served basis on July 2. The 3,600-square-foot clinic is named for Mother Mary Anne McNamara. Her ministries included service as a medical records librarian and hospital administrator, and she served the Wichita congregation as Mother General for 15 years. During her term, the number of schools sponsored by the congregation doubled; four new hospitals were staffed; and the sisters’ ministries were expanded to the dioceses in Oklahoma, Texas, California, Oregon and Japan. Mother Mary Anne was also the founder and first president of St. Mary of the Plans College in Dodge City. Her leadership was recognized by the many organizations on whose boards she served. The clinic is located at 1152 S. Clifton, just north of Via Christi St. Joseph Medical Center. It is open weekdays from 4 p.m. until midnight, with plans to expand services to seven days a week. |
